The Problem Statement
A 200m² family home that had outgrown the way its owners actually lived: modest in scale, disconnected from its garden, with no room for wellness, hosting, or the family's day-to-day rhythm.

The Client Brief
The homeowners approached Extension Architecture with a vision to create a home that truly reflected the way they lived. While the original brief focused on a double-storey side extension with an office, garage and swimming pool, the project quickly evolved into a complete transformation of the property.
Throughout the three-year journey, every design decision was informed by how the family would use the home — resulting in spaces that balance everyday functionality with luxurious living, while preserving the character of the original property.
Existing Home
A detached house with a traditional medium-sized crown roof and front and rear dormer windows. By the time the project began, it had already been through several rounds of alteration: a single-storey conservatory extension, a single-storey side extension via a glass link, and a raised rear/side patio.
Create a brighter, open-plan home centred around family living.
Strengthen the connection between interior spaces and the landscaped gardens.
Introduce dedicated wellness, leisure and entertaining spaces.
Blend contemporary architecture with the character of the existing home.
Deliver a timeless residence designed around the family's lifestyle.

Summary Of Works
Extension Architecture managed the project from concept through to completion, providing a fully coordinated architectural service across every stage of the design and construction process. Working alongside engineers, consultants, contractors and the local authority, we ensured that every aspect of the project remained aligned with the client’s vision while maintaining the highest standards of design and technical delivery.
Over the course of three years, what began as a modest extension evolved into one of our most ambitious residential projects. The result is a bespoke contemporary home where architecture, interiors and landscape come together to create a timeless living environment tailored entirely to the family’s lifestyle.
Beyond the numbers, the result is a full lifestyle transformation: a family home reorganised around wellness, hospitality and connection to landscape, delivered without losing the character of the original property.
